Matheson has been named Ireland Tax Firm of the Year for the third consecutive year at the International Tax Review (ITR) EMEA Tax Awards 2022.  Matheson was chosen from a shortlist of the country’s largest legal and accounting firms following a comprehensive client and peer research process, indicating outstanding performance in the tax law area over the past year.

Matheson has the largest tax team of any Irish law firm, representing many of the leading international companies and financial institutions operating in and from Ireland.  Matheson is also the only Irish law firm to have partner-level tax expertise on both coasts of the United States through our offices in New York, Palo Alto and San Francisco.

Shane Hogan, partner and head of Tax at Matheson, commented‘We are delighted to be honoured with this award, and particularly because it is our third consecutive year to win it.  Our continued growth and our leading position in the market is reflected in our strength and depth and in the value and complexity of the mandates we advise on.  We are the tax adviser of choice for many US and EU multinationals and financial institutions and we act as their primary Irish tax counsel.  This award is a very welcome and public acknowledgment of the skills and expertise and of the hard work done by our team, and we are delighted to receive it once again."

The Tax Group at Matheson has advised on a number of successfully completed public and private M&A deals, restructurings and loan-origination transactions, many of which required innovative approaches.  With increased scrutiny by tax administrations internationally, our team is also leading on many of the most complex and high-value tax disputes in the market.
