Matheson Advises on Wayflyer Series B Raise – Ireland’s Latest Tech Unicorn

A Matheson team led by corporate M&A partner Brian McCloskey, corporate senior associate Robert Maloney Derham and Corporate solicitor Joanna Crowley, is delighted to have advised lead investors DST Global, QED Investors and Left Lane Capital, on their Series B investment in Wayflyer Limited, Ireland’s latest home-grown tech unicorn, after reaching a valuation in excess of $1 billion in 2.5 years.

The Series B round was co-led by DST Global, one of the leading Internet investment firms globally and QED Investors, a venture capital firm that focuses on investing in information-rich businesses, primarily financial services, financial technology, and data intensive businesses.  Wayflyer is now Ireland’s fastest home grown tech unicorn after reaching a $1 billion plus valuation in just under 2.5 years.  Irish-headquartered and with offices in Dublin, London, New York, Atlanta and Sydney, Wayflyer helps eCommerce businesses worldwide reach their growth potential by providing a range of financing and analytics solutions that help them access working capital, improve cash flow and drive sales.

Robert Maloney Derham commented: “We are delighted to have worked with DST Global, QED Investors and Left Lane on this investment.  Each of these investors believe in Wayflyer and what they are trying to achieve and testament to this belief is their lead participation in the Series B fundraise after also having led the Series A fundraise.  This investment in Wayflyer, its founders and in Ireland, shows that it is eminently possible to create and grow a unicorn from Ireland, which will hopefully inspire other Irish entrepreneurs to follow in the footsteps of the Wayflyer founders.”
